There. I’ve said it.
Stop reading that shit, honestly!
I don’t know about you but I’m SICK of my Facebook newsfeed showing me adverts about ‘7 steps to creating a million dollar a month business in 3 hours’, or ‘How to get a super model body right now’.
It’s ridiculous! Do you really think that if life and success were that simple and it could be condensed into 3 simple steps? If success were that easy, wouldn't everyone be doing it??
Here's my tip:
Stop looking for the answers on the OUTSIDE.
If you want to have a great body, you know what you need to do. You go to the gym more and you eat less. And if you don’t know what exercise to do or food to eat, there is a plethora of information OUT THERE, for free, that can teach you.
But that’s not the problem, is it?
The problem is what’s going on INSIDE YOUR MIND.
If you want to create a business, you know what you need to do for that too. You come up with an idea. You put the idea into action. And when you don’t know how to do something, what will you do? Google it.
But that’s not the problem, IS IT?!!
We don’t need more ‘How to’s’.
It’s not the ‘not knowing how’ that stands in our way.
It’s the way we are thinking.
It’s the way we think about ourselves. Our abilities. Our value. Our worth. Our like-ability.
It’s the way we think about what others’ will think of us. It’s the way we think about uncertainty. It’s the way we think about what’s expected of us. Or the stuff our parents said to us as kids.
It’s the way we think about failure. It’s the way we compare ourselves to others. It’s the way we think “I don’t have time / money”. It’s the way we think our thoughts are real (hint: they're not).
It’s the way we keep thinking that the answer is OUT THERE.
The best way to change your world?
Change your thoughts. Change the way you SEE your thoughts. Change the way you see yourself.
THEN your life will really change.
This is exactly what I help my clients to do. I help them to see things differently. I help them to see new perspectives. Let me give you an example:
A client of mine wanted to use her session to work out ‘HOW TO’ manage her time in a way that allowed her to focus on her career AND her passion, without her feeling that time spent on one was in conflict with time spent on the other, or neglecting one altogether.
A simple conversation with her took from seeing them as two opposites that conflicted with each other, to 2 cogs working in harmony together, and suddenly she created a way that allowed her to fulfil her passion AS WELL AS meet her work commitments.
She didn’t need to know ‘how to’. She just needed to think about things differently. And sure enough, her whole world changed.
The difficulty is that it’s so hard to see our own thinking because we are so close to it. And that’s why working with a coach is so powerful, because it opens your mind to things that are so close to you you can’t see them.
